Our Puppy Professionals are here to help!

Puppy raising can be hard work, but our highly knowledgeable team of Academy Trainers will make sure the process is streamlined for you. Our Trainers will lay the foundational skills for your puppy, so that your puppy develops into a social, adaptable, and well trained canine companion. With our help, you can spend less time on the nitty gritty details of raising a puppy, and more time enjoying that sweet puppy breath.

Say hello to our Certified Dog Trainers

On your puppy’s Orientation Day, you will have the opportunity to speak directly with one of our Puppy Trainers. They will make sure your puppy’s Academy schedule fits your goals and offers a diverse selection of training, socializing, and enrichment opportunities.

Puppy Academy Syllabus

During Puppy Academy, our Trainers will provide structured learning opportunities. All of our Trainers have experience supporting early development. Part of each day is dedicated to obedience fundamentals like sit, stay, and down. Potty training is also a priority to set your puppy up for success at home. As well as, crate training in a positive way to help puppies feel comfortable and safe in their own space.

Puppy Academy Trainers gradually introduce your puppy to things you’d commonly expect at the vet and groomers to create positive associations and minimize stress later on. Such as standing on a weight scale/examination table, touch from a stranger, being brushed, the sound of a nail Dremel/blow dryer, etc. Last but certainly not least, Trainers provide a safe and positive setting for puppies to interact and play under supervision while they learn social and communication skills.

Available weekdays at Metro Dogs!

Puppy Academy consists of 2 sessions per week of Training Days. We offer a free Orientation Day allowing our Trainers to assess if our program is right for your puppy, as well as you getting the chance to speak with the Trainer and make a decision on enrolling your puppy in Puppy Academy.

To maximize learning potential, we recommend our 5-week course (10 sessions), however, we also offer a 3-week (6 sessions) option if it better fits your needs.  Puppy Academy members also gain access to Puppy Play Days on the non-training days!

Mondays & Thursdays are Puppy Academy – Training Days

Program starts at 9:00AM. We strongly recommend not dropping off earlier than 8:45AM. If you absolutely need to, please let us know.

Two Certified Dog Trainers begin working with your puppy at 9AM until 1PM. Preferred pick up time is between 12PM til 1PM, where one of the trainers is available to give you an update on your puppy’s day! Not able to pick up between 12pm and 1pm? Just ask… you may extend pick up to between 3:30pm and 6:30pm, but the Trainer is not on-site past 1:00PM.   Price: 10 sessions $790; 6 sessions $490.  Additional training sessions may be added at the end of your course for $79 / session.

Wednesdays & Fridays are Puppy Academy Play Days.

These are supplemental socialization days to be used as a “booster” for those puppies that need additional socialization. Puppy Play Days are offered only to current Puppy Academy members. The Play Days are supervised by a trained dog handler, but they do not include training time with the 2 Certified Dog Trainers.  Price: $35 / day

 Meet Our Trainers

Beth (she/her)

- Head Trainer

Beth has been with Metro Dogs since September of 2021 as a daycare handler, and took over as trainer for Trick of the Month and Puppy Pre-K in April of 2022. Since then, she has helped expand the training program, adding day training services, private training, classes, and our Puppy Academy program!
She has spent her entire life surrounded by all kinds of dogs, but most frequently herding breeds(breeds that she now adores!). Growing up in the Chicagoland area and then attending the University of North Dakota for her undergraduate degree, Beth is no stranger to cold, snowy winters!
Beth adores working at Metro Dogs because of how rewarding it is to get to build bonds with each dog that comes in, whether it be in group or training one-on-one. She is currently a Minneapolis resident that lives with her AHS rescue, Pete(an Aussie / Coonhound mix, not-so-surprisingly!) and adores spending most of her free time with him by her side. As of June 2023, Beth earned her CCDT, graduating with distinction from Catch Canine Trainers Academy, and also earned her Family Dog Mediation (FDM) certification in February of 2024. Bethany is CPR and First Aid Certified through ProPetHero.

Beth is a Fear Free certified professional.

Sydney (she/her)

- Trainer

Sydney has been working with dogs since 2017, but she has always had an affinity for animals for as long as she can remember! She has spent the last three years exclusively pursuing her love for dog training. This transition helped spark her passion for not only teaching, but also helping create a healthy bond between dogs and their pet parent!

Sydney is currently in the process of earning her degree in behavioral psychology and plans to continue her educational journey within the dog training community, as well. Sydney believes that it is critical to keep current on the ever-changing science and techniques used within the dog industry in order to best set pet parents up for success.

Sydney is a Fear Free certified professional.
