Preparing for daycare drop-off
As you get ready to drop your pup off for the evaluation day at Metro Dogs, you might start to wonder “do I have to bring anything?” or “what should Murphy wear?” We’ve included a few informational tables below to address such questions!
a) Daycare supplies needed:
- Treats or a labeled baggie of your dog’s kibble if your dog has veterinary diagnosed food allergies. Please fill out this form if your dog has food allergies!
- A lunch if you wish for your dog to be fed between 12pm – 1pm (no glass containers please). There is an additional charge for lunch if your dog is over 6 months of age.
- Medication if your dog requires orally administered medications. Label the container with their name, the medication type, and the time the medication must be administered. There may be an additional charge for medications that require administration at exact times.
Please leave at home:
- Your dog into the building off leash or out of control, not all dogs are friendly on leash!
- Food or treats in a glass container.
- Breakfast or dinner, these meals should be fed before or after daycare.
- Your dog’s toys, bowls, or bedding – we’ll provide everything they need for daycare.
b) Doggy Dress Code
Our dogs get to play NAKEY so we want to be sure it’s something easy to take off when they arrive and easy to put back on when it’s time to leave. Often dogs are SO excited to come in, and SO happy to see you at pick up, that anything more than a simple collar can be too much to hold still for. A slip leash is a great alternative as well.
We also have some no-no’s for drop off. These are for a few different reasons, but primarily, as a positive reinforcement facility aversive tools go against our philosophy. Aversive tools can unknowingly and unintentionally create negative associations to things dogs encounter, and we never want a dog to associate daycare with something negative. But other items on the “No List” are there because they just take too darn long to put on a wiggly pupper.
More acceptable items include: EzyDog harness, gentle leader, easy walk harness, freedom no pull harness, Blue 9 Balance harness, martingale collar with an easy snap clip, & a basic 6ft leash.
More unacceptable items include: choke chain, prong collar, e-collar, harness that pulls tightly over the head, step in harness that require touching the dog’s feet, harness with multiple clips/closures, buckle collar(like a belt), martingale collar that pulls tightly over the head, coats/sweaters/shirts/bandanas/etc, booties or foot coverings, flea & tick or anxiety collar, flexi leash, & ANY two items at once (ex: harness+collar or gentle leader+collar)
c) Pick-up Plan
If your dog displays any concerning behaviors during the evaluation, the manager on duty will call the primary owner on the Gingr account. We understand you may not be able to answer your phone immediately, please take time to listen to any voicemail the manager leaves. We may ask that you pick your dog up early from the evaluation.
While this is unlikely, it is a possibility. Therefore, if the primary owner on the Gingr account isn’t available to call or pick up if needed, please have a back up plan ready! As Metro Dogs is a small facility, we do not have separate boarding areas with individual kennels for dogs to stay if they do not pass the evaluation.
Daycare drop-off & pick-up hours
Please be courteous of our drop off & pick up hours. When our lobby is closed, front desk staff are responsible for providing enrichment, training, & nap time for the puppies, throwing doggy birthday parties, calling veterinarians, and continuing education – just to name a few! Thank you for understanding!
Early drop off is available between 6:45AM – 7AM for an additional charge.
Late pick up available between 6:30PM – 7PM for an additional charge.
*Early drop off and late pick up must be scheduled in advance to ensure that staff is on site. If you schedule early drop off or late pick up, you will be charged for the service even if you do not arrive early or late.

Daycare Waitlist Policy
Metro Dogs has a safety capacity, therefore we do require advance reservations for daycare services. If we have reached our safety capacity for a particular day, we will create a waitlist.
If space were to open up in your dog’s playroom up until the day before your waitlisted reservation, we will accept through the Gingr waitlist system and you will be notified via automated email. If you do not attend this now accepted reservation, our cancellation policy is in effect.
If a space opens on the day of the waitlisted reservation, our staff will call to notify you there has been an opening and see if you are still able to attend. There is no charge if you are not able to attend the reservation with late notice. Typically, calls will be made by 9am on the day of the waitlisted reservation.
If the waitlist is not suitable for your situation; we ask that you cancel the waitlisted reservation. If you do not cancel the waitlisted reservation, that means you are committed to attending that reservation if space opens up.
Daycare Cancellation Policy
Reservations must be cancelled with 24 hours’ notice to the reservation start time as scheduled in your Gingr portal. Reservation start time is scheduled when you submit your reservation request. If you do not specify the drop off time, it will default to Metro Dogs business opening. You may cancel future reservations through your Gingr Portal 24 hours up until this selected drop off time. (Example; you have a reservation scheduled for 9am drop off on Wednesday. You may cancel anytime before 9am on Tuesday without penalty.)
If you wish to adjust daycare reservation start times that are already scheduled in the future, you must contact our staff via email as you are not able to edit reservations through your portal. We are happy to do so!
If your dog is not feeling well or has an injury, please contact us if it’s within the 24 hours prior to the start time of your reservation to cancel. We do not want sick dogs to attend daycare and will waive the cancellation charge if you notify our staff by 9 am via phone or email. Please do not abuse the sick cancellation exception.
